The Dominican Republic, despite its popularity as a tourism destination, many Dominican families face extreme poverty. It is estimated that one in every three Dominicans lives below the poverty line. Hope Humanitarian is heading back to the Dominican Republic from March 11th - 19th to help build a home for Sylvia and her family. Sylvia currently lives in a tiny one-bedroom house with two of her grandchildren. The house she lives in floods whenever it rains and termites are eating its rotting wood.
